GREAT SAND DUNES OASIS RV PARK

This large mass of sand dunes (39 square miles) rises almost 750 feet with the Sangre de Cristo Mountains forming the backdrop to create a most unusual setting and one worth experiencing. Sites #1 thru 16 have a fairly level pad of about 35 feet and some slope in front. Back in or pull into most of them, and you will have a view of the dunes out the front and curbside of your rig. Close neighbors at most of the sites and only 30 amp service. The 100 yards or so of road to the campground area might be a little “washboardy” but the trade-off is unhooking and driving to the dunes a short distance away. Friends without RVs? Two motel rooms. Open 4/1 thru 10/1 unless the snow flies early or late.
DIRECTIONS: East of Alamosa 15 miles on Hwy 160 at mile marker 248, take Hwy150 north for about 16 miles and the park will be to your right, but not totally visible. Take the second entrance and register at the store.
