Short Description
The pine tree studded mountains of the Kootenai National Forest serve as a back drop to beautiful Lake Koocanusa and you will be positioned in an open unmarked lakeside/view site. No bright city lights here. No hookups either, but a memorable dry camping experience is your reward. No laundry or dump station. Drinking water is available at a faucet or two but they are not threaded to accept a hose. Paved streets and gravel sites. No reservations. Open year around but water is shut off in colder months.
DIRECTIONS: A portion of the road into the park is narrow and slightly downhill, making the passing of two Big Rigs questionable. We suggest you unhook in Libby or at the turnout between mile markers 43 & 44 on Hwy 37. We also suggest you approach the park on Hwy 37 from the south and not the north. Therefore, at the intersection of Hwys 2 & 37 in Libby, head north on Hwy 37 for roughly 46 miles. The park entrance will be to your left close to the 46 mile marker.
